A letter from the founder

Investing deserves your attention. Not all of it.

Most people who invest don't do it for a living. They have careers, families, and lives that deserve their attention.

Staying on top of your investments can still feel like a second job. You're either in front of the firehose, with another headline, another chart, another opinion, nearly all of it short-term. Or you wrote down why you bought something, never set the reminder to revisit it, and missed the chance to add or trim when the evidence changed.

The hard part isn't finding information. It's knowing what matters, what's changed, and whether any of it should change your mind.

I started building Stillwater to stay on top of my own investments without watching them all day.

I believe AI can help enormously. But not in the way it's often advertised.

Ask an AI which stock will outperform over the next three years and it may give you a compelling answer. The problem is that nobody knows. A confident prediction isn't the same as knowledge.

Even a simpler question has a catch. You don't know what the AI knows or how current it is, or you gather every signal yourself first. So we do that groundwork: decide which fundamentals, technicals, and macro signals matter for each investment, keep them up to date, and give AI all of it through a carefully designed review, so its take reflects the full picture. The goal is to sharpen your judgment, not replace it.

We start with the reasons an investment might be worth owning, then monitor the evidence that could strengthen or weaken them. Instead of the firehose, we try to answer one question:

Has something important changed about the reason you own this investment?

Sometimes the answer is yes. Often it's no. And sometimes the evidence is genuinely mixed. Being able to say we don't know yet is a feature, not a failure.

My goal isn't to build an AI that tells you what to buy or sell. It's to build a companion that does the ongoing work of paying attention, tells you when something deserves a closer look, and leaves the decisions with you.

That's why I'm building Stillwater: so you can focus on your work, your family, and your life without feeling you've stopped paying attention to your investments.
